EAS is a community of scholars interested in applying modern evolutionary theory to the analysis of human biology, behavior, and culture. As a part of the American Anthropological Association, EAS is interested in helping students present their research at our annual meeting and building ties across scientific sub-disciplines within the diverse field of anthropology.

2011 EAS Paper Presentation Awards

The EAS gives out two awards per year, based on presentations at the AAA meetings. The awards are for best paper by a new investigator and best paper by a student, and they are awarded with a cash prize.

Best Paper by a New Investigator

Brooke Scelza (UCLA) – Old Theories, New Data: Paternity, Fidelity and Female Choice among the Himba.

Best Paper by a Student

Katie Starkweather (U Missouri) – A Survey of Non-Classical Polyandry (co-authored with Raymond Hames).
